Our Story
2003
Todor and Maia Todorov started Alternative Stone working in Southern Idaho with the Magic Valley’s top builders and interior designers to create custom architectural elements such as fireplace surroundings, columns, arches, moldings, and more.
2005
Constructing details that truly elevate a home’s beauty, the business quickly grew into the Treasure Valley area.
2014
Todor and Maia’s passion for the entire home construction process led them to expand to include building custom homes.
2017
Alternative Stone’s first custom home is built in the Treasure Valley, and the business headquarters are moved to Boise, Idaho.
Our Team
Todor and Maia Todorov started Alternative Stone because of their passions for construction and interior design. With over 30 years’ experience in the construction industry, and 16 years running a thriving business, they are experts in making homes special for owners. The Todorov’s know what quality looks like, and Todor has done many of the jobs on a home build site himself. They want each part of the build process to be perfection.

Contractor and Project Manager
Todor oversees job sites and manages sub-contractors every step of the way. Clients are often pleasantly surprised at how often he’s actually at the build site. His varied experience both in overseeing teams and doing detailed jobs himself, make him an outstanding project lead. His passion for construction and attention to detail shines through on every project.
Maia Todorov
Designer
Maia makes suggestions for all colors, surfaces, and finishes throughout the home. She also creates a design plan for the kitchen, helping you decide everything from appliance and cabinet placement to the overall look. In addition to her background in interior design, she has done antique furniture finishing. She also creates the beautiful finishes for the architectural elements they’ve constructed in homes for years. Her ability to concentrate on the small things, while seeing the big picture makes her an amazing asset to the team.
